Jeff Awards & Various Articles

October 26th, 2009 thewpap No comments

Firstly, thank you for all the messages and mentions on twitter over the past week, as well as all the emails much appreciated.   Still going through them, but wanted to update the main site beforehand.

The big news of the past week is that Billy won the Jeff Award for his performance in Blackbird this past summer.   The Award for Actor in a Principal Role was a tie as below:

ACTOR IN A PRINCIPAL ROLE – PLAY (Tie)
William L. Petersen – “Blackbird” – Victory Gardens Theater
Larry Neumann, Jr. – “A Moon for the Misbegotten” – First Folio Theatre

ACTOR IN A PRINCIPAL ROLE – PLAY (Tie)
William L. Petersen – “Blackbird” – Victory Gardens Theater

It does not appear that Billy was there to accept the Award personally.   For more information about the Jeff Awards and the winners, information can be found on the following links:

In other news, in a recent interview with Anthony Zuiker, he was asked the question if Billy is returning to CSI and his response was:

JAM!: With Jorja Fox back on ‘CSI’ indefinitely, one last question: Will Grissom return this season?

Zuiker: We’re trying to get Billy [William Petersen] back. It’s really up in the air right now. He’s sorely missed and I’d love to have him back. Nothing would please me more to get Billy back.

You can read the full interview here.

Our VGT Fundraiser is still going strong and we as well as Victory Gardens appreciate all the donations received, especially in this time where everyone is really holding on to their money.   As a reminder our Fundraiser ends November 27th.  In other fundraiser news please check out our friends at both Margamania and Jorja Fox : Online & Jorja All Around who are also raising money for some great causes.

Various Articles

Billy is mentioned in a couple of articles online.

The following is from a recent live chat Curt Columbus (Trinity Rep Artistic Director) did with the Providence Journal.

Greenville_momma: Is WIlliam Petersen from CSI ever going to come back to Trinity again? We loved him in the Dublin Carol and I would love to see him on stage again. Maybe he could play Scrooge in Christmas Carol one year?

Curt Columbus: Funny that you ask — I talked to Billy a couple of months ago about coming back to Rhode Island. He would LOVE to come, and we are talking projects, but we haven’t found exactly the right one yet. He’s an amazing actor and I hope we can find the right project soon.

Personally, would love to see Billy back on the boards at Trinity Rep, it is a beautiful theater.

Matt Roush of TV Guide answers the following question on his Ask Matt page.

Question – Finally, I see that William Petersen still has an executive producer credit on CSI even though he left last season. Does this mean he now still gets a check in the mail even though we may never see him again? (Langston is growing on me a little and I like watching Catherine deal with new challenges as supervisor, but Grissom is still sorely missed.) If so, is that his only remaining association with the show (a sweet deal regardless), or does he still have creative input?

Matt’s Answer – Finally, Peterson’s production deal with partner Cynthia Chvatal on CSI is no doubt more symbolic (and financial) than creative, though if asked, they’d probably say he still takes a proprietary interest in what’s going on back on his old stomping grounds. This association does, however, indicate there’s always the chance that Gil (like Sara) could come back on occasion, and he’ll always be welcome.

Finally, updates over the next week will be as and when we can get online due to a vacation.

Entertainment Weekly Article

Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello has an article online regarding Jorja Fox’s CSI status and the dynamics of the Grissom/Sara marriage.

Despite the extension, Mendelsohn says there are no current plans for Grissom (William Petersen) to join his wife in Las Vegas.  Upcoming episodes will shed light on the couple’s unconventional living arrangement. “We will address the fact that Grissom is somewhere else and Sara is living in Vegas,” she reveals. “Everyone on the team is a little interested. They’re like, ‘What’s the deal? Grissom’s there, you’re here, how does that work?’

Exclusive : Jorja Fox makes her ‘CSI’ return (more) permanent!
