A Question for our Site Visitors

We will be starting development on the new site layout very soon, but whilst we are still in the preparation stages, we thought we would take this opportunity to ask our site visitors what they would like to see on the site, and hopefully we can incorporate these ideas into the new format.

Are there areas you think we need to improve on? We are definitely going to work on keeping the site updated more often, sometimes real life does get in the way, but we are certainly going to try, we know we have been very slack in this area lately.

Do you think we need to be more active in terms of social media, facebook pages, etc?

Our Livejournal and Yahoo Group is extremely quiet, we obviously want to bring some life back to the community side of things by perhaps making what we have redundant and starting with something fresh? If you are a member of either or both, let us know what you think.

Our friends at Margamania and jorjafox.net both have a great basis for fan interaction via groups and forums, is this something you would like to see us incorporate on The WPAP?

If we do incorporate another community base, we will be looking for moderators so if this is something you are interested in as well, please send us an email.

We plan to have a little bit of a change behind the scenes at The WPAP and hope some fresh blood will keep things running as smooth as possible.

Anywho, we would love to hear your thoughts so please leave a comment, send us an email or tweet us, we are very interested in hearing any and all feedback.

    I think that Margmania and JFO are in a bit better position since MH and JF are still regularly on TV, and Billy has pretty much hidden himself from the wider audience for the past 2 years. I think as soon as he comes back to the public eye with new projects, the community will come back to life.

    I tend to agree with Ad; when an entertainer has taken himself out of the limelight, it’s hard to generate excitement for what isn’t going on (or is not publicly known). I love the guy, and I’ll continue to check in here occasionally to see if any news has popped up, but I don’t expect you, as site runners, to be able to generate a lot of excitement among fans when there hasn’t been much to report. Perhaps if you light the proverbial fire under Mr. Petersen (or his “people”) and get them to give you something to talk about (esp recent pictures). But I get the feeling that he VERY MUCH values his privacy and, honestly, if I were him, I’d be quiet, too. You saw the traffic here spike with that picture the other day — that will continue to happen!

    Thanks for the comment, much appreciated, definitely something for us to think about.

    In the coming weeks we need to investigate who still uses our current communities, our LJ has remained fairly quiet even during projects which may mean people are not using LJ as much. Would be nice to be able to keep the momentum going whether he’s doing projects or not, we may need more options to do that than LJ has to offer perhaps. Something we will definitely bring up in the community itself.

    Thanks for the feedback Elaine.

    Surprisingly, our site stats didn’t drop as much as we thought when he left CSI which is something we are very grateful for, so in respect of the main site, we want to make it as enjoyable for those who continue to visit regularly.

    For the main site we can only report on stuff as we know about it, but from a community side of things, we were interested in knowing if visitors wanted somewhere they could interact with each other better, or if they are just happy with what we have already.

    Re. photos it’s been a while since we added anything to the gallery, so we need to get our act together and start uploading the various photos we have.

    I, for one, come here every day, LJ as well. I don’t honestly know about a FB page, there seems to be tons of traffic on the site in general and I have trouble keeping up with my personal page. Maybe more people would spend time on a WPAP FB page, it seems that FB and Twitter has taken a lot of the activity away from LJ, I’m slow enough to change that I miss it. Regardless, if you build it I will be there. *grin*

    P.S. I love they layout of the site, very user friendly.

    Thanks Pat, much appreciated.

    New layout is still user friendly, hopefully even more so.

    I use an RSS feed to stay on top of activity on the site so checking for updates is a click away. I rarely check FB but do watch Twitter. This is a great site and I look forward to your changes.

    Well I for one like the idea of a facebook page, it does have the chat option which would allow me to discuss Billy and his projects with other fans rather than just comment on it. One of the biggest things I deal with, being someone who is a younger fan, is that I have no one really to discuss my admiration or interest in his projects. People at school and my family get tired hearing about him, so it would be nice to be able to social interact with others who share that admiration.

    A facebook would also make it easier for some in regards to updates. I have to frequent facebook numerous times a day because various activities and clubs use it as a primary means of communication, if I could get my WPAP updates through facebook, it would be one less thing I would have to remeber to check because it would notify me automatically if there is an update, or at least I think it should.

    Yeah you guys have been a little slow on updates, but I could imagine that Bill’s life is a lot quieter now, which gives you less to update, so no foul. But I must admit when I come here and the site has not been updated in like two weeks I find myself yelling at the computer screen “Oh my God Billy do something with your life!” I’m terrible.

    The format of the actual website is fantastic…don’t change it.

    I do get annoyed when I look to the right of the screen, see the twitter update have something like “Today at 4:00pm” and I get excited that there is something actually going on and then it just that guy that constantly ask “Does William have a facebook page” @ WPAP….
    @guywhokeeps asking same question “No he doesn’t”
    @ WPAP “Twitter”?
    @guywhokeeps asking same question “NO”
    @WPAP “Is this William Petersen?”
    @ guywhokeeps asking same question “No this isn’t. This site is no way…

    That is the only thing that really annoys me.

    I love this site and it’s layout. I also think that you’ve done a great job keeping us up-to-date, especially when Billy has “gone to ground” so to speak, and there is hide nor hair of him anywhere. 🙂

    I agree with Kiara;I know that I would like a place to chat about Billy, re-discuss his older movies etc. I used to have that over at talkcsi, but since he left CSI , there are very few Billy fans there anymore and threads dedicated to him are dead and I miss that aspect terribly.
    I like the idea of a Facebook page. I am on FB everyday, more than once, so it would be a perfect place to get updates, follow Billy’s projects and touch base with other Billy fans.

    I’m definitely looking forward to new pictures in “The Gallery”. Everything else with the site is great.

    I think the site is great & you cannot update if there is nothing to tell. I really miss talking to everyone on the Yahoo site & have commented about it several times. I get a couple of comments back, then nothing. I don’t see why we can’t all keep talking & being friendly since we have our interest in Billy in common. I found a dear friend through the Yahoo site. We email, phone, write etc. We’ve never met, but we have found other interests to talk about as well as Billy. I think it’s sad that just because he’s not making news for us every few days that we don’t all still talk. Maybe that would happen on Facebook. I go there every day, also. People tend to talk more on there for some reason; so I think a page there would be great! I do love this site, though & am grateful to those of you keeping it running!
