CSI

December 18th, 2009

We have various promos, trade ads, dailies & episode screencaps (along with a few other goodies) of this very popular TV Show in our CSI Section at The Gallery.

Billy played Gil Grissom, the supervisor of the crack team of crime scene investigators who work the night-shift for the Las Vegas Crime lab. Needless to say, Vegas is a hotbed bizarre, twisted crimes. Gil is intelligent, eccentric, intense, private and loyal, with an ironic sense of humor. We think he is a gem of a character  and one of the most interesting to grace prime time television.

Gil is an expert criminalist, but he is first and foremost a self-described “science geek” believing fully that science and evidence ultimately reveal the truth. He is relentless in his search for the clues that will solve a crime. He believes the CSIs are the victim’s last voice. After receiving his B.S in Biology from UCLA, he became the youngest coroner in the history of LA county at 22. Eight years later a head hunter recruited him to run the Las Vegas Crime Lab, which, under his direction has become the #2 crime lab in the country. His parents divorced when he was 5 and he spent much of his childhood in solitude, studying the science of life and death. He has never been married. Billy has said about Grissom: “He’s been out with women, but he’s never been in love.”

Grissom is also an entomologist with a large butterfly and moth collection in his townhome and a pet tarantula in his office. He also has a maggot farm, and frequents the local “body farm” where he studies corpses in varying states of decomposition.

Gil also races cockroaches at conventions, and handles his stress by riding roller-coasters. He enjoys classical music, wine and frequently watches the Discovery channel. He has been lifelong baseball fan. Grissom is also quite well-read, as he often quotes Shakespeare and other assorted literary and philosophical figures. As knowledgeable as he is about almost any subject, his entire life is about the work. It is who he is. In season three he struggled with a hereditary hearing disorder (Otosclerosis. His mother was deaf) that may cause him to lose his hearing permanently. He had surgery in the season finale, but only time will tell if it was successful. Stay tuned!

QUOTES:

“They make me dye my hair darker because it photographs better. But since we shoot out of sequence, I walk into a room with it one color, and when I leave it’s another.”

“Sometimes I’m just in a haze, and then I wake up and say to the crew, ‘refresh my memory, why am I standing in this lab?’ If you see my character carrying  around a clipboard or staring at a computer, there’s a good chance I’m reading my lines.”

“I was horrible at science and math. I couldn’t pass a test to save my life! I’m surprised that it didn’t take me until I was 20 to graduate. That’s why my role is so cool – Grissom is the complete opposite of me!”

“I so love this character of Gil Grissom, and I wanted to do this show because it was an opportunity for me to learn stuff and, I figured if I could learn stuff, I would be thrilled by the show each week. ” William Petersen

We love him too!!
