Dennis Zacek announces his Retirement

Artistic Director Dennis Zacek today announces plans for his retirement from Victory Gardens, after 34 years at its artistic helm. Zacek will continue his tenure through spring 2011, as the board conducts a national search for his successor. He will remain with the company as Artistic Director Emeritus and plans to remain active as an actor, director and board member.

William Peterson comments :

“For almost forty years Dennis Zacek has been at the center of Chicago Theatre. His encouragement, influence and development of Chicago playwrights, actors, directors and designers has been an immense gift to our city. He was my mentor. Without him, I would very likely not have become an actor. Because of him, I have certainly become a better man.”

Steppenwolf have released on their facebook page several photos from their Annual Gala that took place on Saturday 8th May. You will also find photos of ‘CSI : New York’ star, Gary Sinise, who is also one of the founding members of the Steppenwolf Theater.

Re-broadcast – WFMT Impromptu with Endgame Cast

Good news! For those of you who missed this last month, WFMT are re-broadcasting their show which featured the cast from Endgame on Friday 7th May at 8pm (CT). The show discusses and showcases a few scenes from the play, so be sure and check it out.

For those of you who are listening outside of the US, do not choose the iTunes option on WFMT’s live streaming page, the stream will not work outside the US, so we recommend you choose one of the other options, i.e. real player.

A large update covering all sorts of Endgame goodness!

The cast and director of Endgame were live on WFMT Radio yesterday for a good 45 mins sharing a few scenes and their thoughts on the play.

A good friend of ours went to see Endgame recently and kindly took some photos to share with us. You can view these in The Gallery.

We have added our Official Endgame Review page to the site. We will be adding more to this page as and when reviews come in from the press sites. Reviews from Chicago Now and the Sun-Times are currently available to read.

Also if you are visiting the main Endgame page on the Steppenwolf website, you will notice they have an audio version of the program available, which is a great addition by Steppenwolf.
