November 19, 2002 – Added screencaps and video clips from In the Kingdom of the Blind. In the Ask Matt (Roush) section of TVGuide, there are some perceptive comments from a CSI viewer pertaining to Abra Cadaver and some parallels between that episode and Manhunter:
Question: I love the Oct. 31 episode of CSI, a clear tribute to the original Manhunter (The Michael Mann movie recently remade as Red Dragon) I detected at least half a dozen salutes to Manhunter and it’s sequel, Silence of the Lambs, including having good-guy William Petersen face off with bad-guy Tom Noonan. (Plus the black panther, the moth, the bad guy’s half mask, etc.) Have the producers commented on the making of the episode, including the fact that it aired just a few weeks off the premiere of Red Dragon? Has this episode been in the works for awhile? Very clever, whatever the thinking behind it. (And a nice tip of the hat to those of us who enjoyed the first movie.) – Alison
Matt: Great catch all around, and these are fun observations, especially for fans of the superior Manhunter. From what a source associated with CSI tells me, the cast of Noonan was purely serendipitous and the episode wasn’t really intended as an homage to Red Dragon or Manhunter, though it sure sounds like an argument can be made for it, and the timing of the film’s release also was a coincidence. I liked the episode as well – I loved the final tease in which it hinted Noonan’s character might elude capture after all – and I also think CSI has been on a creative roll lately.

It also talks about how both Marg and Billy have recently come out in public about their concerns and displeasure over how quickly CSI was spun off to CSI: Miami.
October 5, 2002 – Screencaps and video clip from The Accused is Entitled. September 15, 2002 – If you would like to download an audio version of a Remains Theater production of “The Actor Retires”, go to Audible.com. (Just type in “The Actor Retires” in the search window) The play was written by and stars Bruce Norris. but also features D.W. Moffit (one of the founders of Remains), Amy Morton and of course William Petersen. Just a note – Billy is only in it for about five minutes, around 38 minutes into the play. The play is an hour long, and costs 12.99 to download. We found it to be highly entertaining. So………if you are looking for lots of WP, you will be disappointed, but it’s interesting to listen to a Remains Production, especially since this is probably the only chance to actually be a part of that particular theater experience. Just a personal comment about Billy’s small role – we found it telling (once again) that he doesn’t have to be the *star* in everything he does.

July 18, 2002 – CONGRATULATIONS to Billy and the entire cast and crew of CSI for being nominated for an Emmy award as best dramatic series!! Well deserved. While we feel he deserved a nod as best dramatic actor (One of these days he will get his due for his brilliant, nuanced, quietly intense portrayal of the always fascinating Grissom), we are extremely thrilled that CSI was recognized by the Academy, because the quality and success of CSI is due in no small measure to William Petersen. At least he is nominated as a producer!
Something to ponder over the summer…….here
Congratulations to the cast, crew and production staff at CSI for finishing the season as the year’s most watched drama!
