TO APPOMATTOX – Sherman character thoughts

Once again, browsing the Official Facebook Page for TO APPOMATTOX, came across a great comment regarding the difficulty in playing the character of Sherman. Β In case you missed it…
Comment : Can’t help thinking that WT Sherman will be the most difficult character to play. Most people regarded him as crazy at the time. In my eyes he was a visionary and the first really modern military mind of any nationality but really penetrating the character with all its positives as well as its flaws will be extremely difficult.
To Appomattox : I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Sherman. This is why we are so fortunate to have the talented Mr. Petersen passionate about the role. His brilliance at humanizing complex characters is evident in every role he’s played; he knows better than anyone how in a character of high passion it is the quiet moments that define him.
Surprised that you didn’t put this up sooner. π
Have to fit in updates around real life I’m afraid π

Very true!
These comments make me even more excited to see “The March”. I’m sure Billy will do an amazing job of showing the complexities and contradictions in Sherman’s character.
We’ve already started planning our trip to Chicago for next spring, so that we can take in the play while we’re there.
